HB1498 – Allow the publication of legal notices online
House Roll Call #: 93
Allows a local government to publish legal notices on a legal notice web site instead of in a newspaper. Not only does this save money for local units, and ultimately taxpayers, it severs one of the connections where the fees governments pay for notices provide a substantial revenue stream for some local news outlets, but not all. Public notice fee monopolies is a form of cronyism that forms part of a bond between the 4th estate (oldschool/mainstream media) and the government.
